The APPPTMA conference with the theme “Postgraduate Challenges in the Era of Industrial Revolution 4.0” is the answer to the challenges of education to improve academic quality.
Postgraduate of Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra (UMSU) successfully hosted the 4th National Conference and the 8th National Conference at the Association of Postgraduate Programs at the Muhammadiyah – Aisyiyah College (APPPTMA).
The opening of this activity was held at the Medan Mayor’s Office House, Jalan Sudirman, Friday night (30/11). In this meeting, the Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board of Higher Education Board of Higher Education, Prof. Dr.H Lincoln Arsyad, Chancellor of UMSU Dr. Agussani, M.Ap, Chair of the Indonesian Postgraduate Association Muhammadiyah-Aisyiyah Association, Prof. Dr. Khuzaifah Dimyati and UMSU academics and all National Conference and National Conference Participants.
Medan Mayor Drs HT Dzulmi Eldin S, MSi MH, represented by General Assistant Ikhwan Habibi Daulay in his speech said that the Medan City Government welcomed the event. The Mayor hopes that the collaboration of all PTMA will continue to be carried out in various fields. “This means that by working together and working together, God willing, we will be able to achieve good results,” he said.
He further explained, this activity was very important to become the basis for the development of the science and technology movement. This means that this meeting can be used to continue to improve the Muhammadiyah’s Islamic progress in the future.
“I hope this meeting can give birth to provisions or regulations that can be implemented by all Muhammadiyah – Aisyiyah Universities throughout Indonesia. Thus, the quality of education in various Muhammadiyah – Aisyiyah Universities will increase along with the adoption of the same standard “, he said.
Meanwhile, the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership Council of the R & D Board, Prof. Dr. H Lincolin Arsyad, who opened this meeting explained the 4th National Conference and the 8th National Conference of the Association of Postgraduate Programs at the Muhammadiyah – Aisyiyah College was a meeting held annually and aims to progress the Muhammadiyah – Aisyiyah College.
He explained that the existence of Muhammadiyah-‘Aisyiyah College (PTMA) had made a positive contribution to the Indonesian nation in participating in preparing reliable human resources to build Indonesia in the future.
“SDM merupakan salah satu pilar untuk mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan dan tekonologi (IPTEK), karena salah satu ukuran suatu Negara itu masuk kelompok Negara maju adalah penguasaan terhadap ipteks melalui proses pendidikan yang berkualitas,” jelasnya.
Furthermore, he revealed, that in 2016 new challenges had been beaten through the agreement of Southeast Asian countries by forming the ASEAN Economic Community (MEA) or often referred to as the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), one of which was the existence of a free labor market. The labor competition will be increasingly stringent, so demanding Muhammadiyah educational institutions must succeed in producing quality human resources that are processed through a quality education process as well.
“”The quality of an educational institution is determined by institutional accreditation, accreditation of study programs, and international accreditation and national and international rankings,” he said.
Therefore, said Lincolin, the word Standard to get superior accreditation is one of the many scientific works of lecturers and students as a result of research published in accredited national journals and international journals indexed in Scopus / Thomson, giving a positive impact on the development of science and technology.

On the second day, Saturday (12/01/2018) the event continued in the UMSU Postgraduate Building Hall Jl. Denai 217 Medan, with the core agenda of the 4th National Conference and the 8th National Conference at the Association of Postgraduate Programs at Muhammadiyah – Aisyiyah College (APPPTMA).
Then in the afternoon, this series of activities was closed by releasing the departure of all participants to Parapat to enjoy the panoramic view of the beauty of Lake Toba which is an icon of North Sumatra tourism. (RSFN)
